[ Character's Name ] : Tahno
[ Character's Age ] : 17 or so presumably
[ Series ] : Legend of Korra
[ Canon Point ] : After Amon takes away his bending

[ History ] :
This is a set up but you don't realize it because your brain is made out of rib.

[ Personality ] :
When we are first introduced to Tahno, he is made to be an obvious antagonist. Popular from his position as a Pro-bending champion, he clearly revels in his popularity. He remains surrounded by fans and teammates even when he goes to confront Korra. He's arrogant from his victories in the ring and doesn't hesitate to show it. In his view, Korra may be the Avatar but she clearly lacks experience on how different pro-bending is from regular bending. (He isn't exactly wrong in this, either.) For him, this means that he's clearly the better of them.

Along with his arrogance, he's sly and unscrupulous. During the Championship Match against the Fire Ferrets, he doesn't hesitate at all to resort to cheating once the going gets tough. While this is definitely unfair, some credit must be given to his intelligence in how he utilizes these methods. Either he thought of the different ways to cheat ahead of time, came up with them on the fly in the middle of the match, or a mixture of both.

However, things change when Amon takes away his bending. We only see Tahno once after this, when Korra runs into him before he has to tell the police what happened of that time. He's obviously no longer the arrogant, well groomed bender he used to be. He's dressed a bit more plainly, there are bags under his eyes, and even his hair has lost some of its fabulousity. There's something a little more tired and defeated in his tone as he speaks of going to all the best healers in the city. Losing his bending has knocked him down a peg or five, making him realizing that he's not the be-all to end-all and that his popularity could only get him so far.

However, I don't think he's entirely beat down yet. The fact that he took the time to search throughout all of Republic City for a healer, made Korra promise to take down Amon, and even teased her a little bit before her left (calling her the Uh-vatar once again) shows that there's still a bit of fight left in him, or at least shows a good amount of determination in him. He's been knocked down, but while he doesn't have his ability to bend any more, he's still kicking, meaning anything could happen in the future.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
-WEAKNESS: Without his waterbending, Tahno is just an ordinary human. He's subject to the same injuries as everyone else and can only do what his physical body can provide him with. His loss is also a touchy subject for him, especially considering the way in which it was taken.
-STRENGTH: However, while he may not have the waterbending, Tahno is still an accomplished fighter. He may be a cheater, but it's clear that is only part of the reason why he got so far in Pro-Bending. He knows how to take hits like the best of them and is also fairly good at martial arts. (Waterbending movements, after all, are based off of Tai Chi and pro-waterbending has evolved slightly into quicker styles of it.)
-STRENGTH: Tahno is very cunning and intelligent, given the ways he's able to bend referees to his way of thinking and how to cheat...
-Weakness: ...but that also sometimes will come back to bite him in the ass.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
Dees is a butt.

[ Sample ] :
On some level, he's sure that this place was made to mock him. In fact, as he presses his hand against the barrier of the city, it's almost all he can think about. He's a waterbender who can't waterbend, and here he is, surrounded by the ocean. It's almost a joke. A cruel one. Yet as much as he hates it, a part of him can't help but be in awe, too.

Just because he can't waterbend doesn't mean he's lost a connection with the ocean. It's the origin of every waterbender- of anyone from the tribes, even. Yeah, he knows he's a city boy, but every waterbender learned their trade from the rush of rivers, or the tides of the ocean. The phases of the moon.

It's a spiritual thing, he guesses. Not really something he gets completely, but something still a part of him nonetheless.

The buzzing in his pocket snaps him out of his thoughts. With a sigh, Tahno digs his SFC out. Thinking too hard on these things never leads him anywhere. He'd rather some company right now.
